The festival of Navaratri is celebrated with great pomp across the country. But do you know why the festival of Navratri is celebrated, what is the belief behind celebrating it? All nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped on Navratri. This is that time. When the weather changes. According to mythological beliefs, before winter, Lord Shri Ram worshiped Maa Durga for his victory. So let's know why the festival of Navratri is celebrated

Why Celebrate Navratri

From a spiritual point of view, the festival of Navratri mainly comes twice a year. The festival of Navratri is celebrated on the occasion of seasonal changes. One at the beginning of summer and the other at the beginning of winter when this festival is celebrated. This is the time when nature undergoes a major change and is welcomed through the Navaratri by Goddess Shakti, who is the incarnation of nature itself. The festival of Navratri is celebrated only when the weather is favorable.

This is the time when any major ceremony can be performed. According to mythology, Lord Shri Ram started the tradition of celebrating Navratri just before. He performed Durga Puja before leaving Lanka and returned victoriously. In both of these Navratri, devotees invoke Maa Durga who represents the supreme energy of the universe. She is the underlying energy that inspires the act of creation, protection, and destruction. "Durga" means the remover of sorrows. People worship her with full devotion so that Goddess Durga can remove sorrows from their lives and their May life be filled with happiness, joy, and prosperity.

People worship different forms of Goddess Durga on Navratri with full devotion and dedication. Maa Durga is worshiped in the form of Maa Kali, Lakshmi, and Saraswati during Navratri. For the first three days, the Goddess is worshiped as Kali who is the destroyer of all our impurities. In the next three days, we worship Mother Goddess in the form of Lakshmi, who is believed to be the giver of immense wealth. For the next three days, the goddess is worshiped as Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

The eighth day of the festival is known as "Ashtami" and the ninth day is also known as "Maha Navami" and on Chaitra Navratri as "Rama Navami". is celebrated. The festival of Navratri is celebrated for nine whole days in almost every part of India. Navratri festival is celebrated in the honor of Maa Durga. The nine forms of Maa Durga are known as Mata Shailputri, Mata Brahmacharini, Mata Chandraghanta, Mata Kushmanda, Maa Skanda Mata, Maa Katyayani, Mata Kalratri, Mata Mahagauri and Mata Siddhidatri.

Why Is The Festival Of Navratri Celebrated Only For Nine Days? Know The Importance Of This Festival

With the beginning of Navratri, the whole of India has become motherly. The air is becoming pure with the chants of 'Jai Mata Ki'. Long queues of Mother's devotees in temples, devotional kirtan music rising from the streets. It seems as if the devotion-feeling running in the arteries of the public has got wings, new energy has come in it. Even the nights are no longer dark. The shining light of Mother's Jagrats happening from place to place has illuminated and sanctified them. Mother's gifts have also taken away the darkness and darkness of the night. This holy festival of Navratras lasts for nine days.

But why is the festival of Navratri celebrated only for nine days? Maybe we are unaware of the secret hidden inside it? After all, what is the reason behind celebrating this festival? Once an American tourist was visiting India during Navratras. He asked all these questions to his Indian friend. The people of India said that-"The days of Mother Goddess are going on...It is a social festival and its tradition has been going on for centuries...I have been seeing this since childhood...the festival should be celebrated. ..It's a good thing.' So you must have understood that that Indian could not satisfy the curiosity of that tourist.

Truly living in India, the city of knowledge, if this is not our ignorance then what else can be said? We are ignorant of the real facts of the festival in which we are involved with body, mind, and wealth. We do not know what spiritual sentiment and message are there in the festival of Navratri, which we celebrate with such pomp, although any festival, festival, or festival celebrated in our land of India is not just a means of entertainment, a crowd. But every festival has some purpose or the other. It has hidden deep scientific and spiritual facts within itself. But how?

We all know that Navratri comes twice a year. And both times it is celebrated at the time of change. The Navratras that begin before the onset of summer is called 'Chaitra Navaratri' or 'Vasanti Navaratri' and the Navaratras before the onset of winter are called 'Sharadiya Navratri'. At this time there is a stir in the whole atmosphere. Our Mother Nature goes through many changes. And they also have a direct effect on our bodies.

According to health science, a person becomes ill during this period due to fever, phlegm, cold, epidemic, cough, infection, etc. Therefore, there is a need to take special care of diet these days. Those having a scientific outlook were aware of this fact. Therefore, these days, he emphasized consuming fruit, less digestible food. That is why fasting is the law of fasting in Navratras etc.

Second, during Navratras, the three forms of Goddess Durga, Maa Lakshmi, and Maa Sharda are worshipped. There is also a hidden message behind this traditional worship. Goddess Durga is a symbol of power. Mata Lakshmi is a symbol of wealth and opulence. And there Mother Sharda represents Vidya. Therefore, their orderly worship shows the coordination of Vidhan power-glory and knowledge. This indicates that it is very important to have harmony of all these in life.

There is a legend behind celebrating this festival. This story is of the time when the earth was engulfed by the atrocities of demons like Mahisha etc. In this situation, all the gods together invoked the superpower Mahamayi Durga. Mother Durga appeared in a fierce form of fierceness and fought fiercely with these demons for nine days and nine nights. In the end, with the sunrise of the tenth day, Maa Durga defeated all these demonic forces. After killing the late Mahishasura, he uttered the victorious sound. Since then, these nine days have been dedicated to the worship of Mother Goddess.

There is a great message hidden in this story for all of us. The tamasic tendencies situated in our mind like laziness, inertia, indecision, sensuality, brutality, Tamogun, etc. are various demonic forms of Mahishasura. Mother Durga, who destroys these demonic tendencies, also resides within us. Durga comes in Saptashati.

We bow down, bow down, bow down to the Goddess who resides in the form of consciousness in all the living beings. But the consciousness Yadevidh within us is still dormant, not awake. That is why within us is the lordship of Tamogun i.e. Mahisha. This festival of Navratra gives us the message that we should collect all our sattvic tendencies, auspicious thoughts, and qualities. And move towards an auspicious, sattvic, auspicious life. Therefore, O mother lovers, this time by imbibing these great messages of Navratra, move towards a holy life. Long live the Mother...
