A To Z Alphabet Republic Day DP (Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter)
Why Do We Celebrate Republic Day
Republic Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950. India gained independence from British rule in 1947, but the Constitution of India did not come into force until January 26, 1950. The first session of the Constituent Assembly was held on December 9, 1946, and the last session was on November 26, 1949, and then the Constitution was adopted a year later. Dr. BR Ambedkar led the Constitution's drafting committee, and India also celebrates Constitution Day on this day.
Republic Day commemorates the spirit of independent India as it was on this day in 1930 that the Indian National Congress declared complete independence from colonial rule. Republic Day also commemorates the power of Indian citizens to democratically choose their government, so the country celebrates it as a national holiday to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Constitution.
How is The Celebration Done?
Republic Day celebrations are celebrated with great enthusiasm in the country. On this day the President hoists the national flag. The President of India also distributes Padma awards to deserving citizens. Also, brave soldiers are awarded Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and Vir Chakra. The Republic Day parade is also broadcast live every year. So that people can easily watch the parade.
