According to the mythological story, Hanuman Ji's childhood name was Maruti. One day Maruti Nandan woke up from his sleep and felt very hungry. He saw a red ripe fruit on a nearby tree, which he set out to eat. Actually, what Maruti was considering as a red ripe fruit was the Sun God.

It was the day of Amavasya and Rahu was about to eclipse the Sun, but before he could eclipse the Sun, Hanuman ji swallowed the Sun. Rahu could not understand what was happening. He asked Indra for help. When Hanuman ji did not free the Sun God on repeated requests of Indradev, Indra hit him in the face with a thunderbolt, which freed the Sun God.

At the same time, due to the attack of the thunderbolt, the son of wind fell unconscious on the earth and his chin became crooked. When the Wind God came to know about this, he became very angry. With his power, he stopped the flow of air in the whole world, resulting in panic among the living beings on the earth.

To stop this destruction, all the gods came to request the Wind God to give up his anger and let the oxygen flow on the earth. To please the Wind God, all the gods made Bal Hanuman as he was before and also gave him many boons.

Due to the blessings of the Gods, child Hanuman became even more powerful, but due to the blow of the thunderbolt, his chin became crooked, due to which one of his names became Hanuman.
