Frog In The Well

There was an old well in a village. A frog and a toad lived in that well. The people of the village did not draw water from that well because the water in that well was dirty.

One day the frog said to the toad –

Frog: How long will we stay here? Let's go out of here.

Frog: Hey, what will you do by going outside, we cannot live without water, we will live in this until this water dries up. Will see you later.

But the frog does not agree and he says to the frog –

Frog: Listen Frog, I am going out. If everything goes well then I will call you.

Frog: Listen, if you face any problem, call me, and I will come to help you.

With great difficulty, the frog climbed the wall and was taken out of the well. Coming out, he saw that the land was very big and the sky was even bigger. We could see a small sky from the well.

He started jumping in search of a pond where he could live.

After going some distance he found a pond. He was about to jump into the pond when a voice came from the pond –

The frog gets scared after hearing the sound –

Frog: Who are you?

Fish: We are fish living in this pond. Why have you come here?

Frog: I want to live in this pond. I became very upset while living in the well.

Fish: But we have possession of this pond. We keep swimming peacefully but you will disturb us by jumping. You go somewhere else.

Frog: No I won't jump at all. However you swim, I will keep swimming completely calmly.

Hearing this the fish allowed him to stay there.

For two days the frog kept swimming with its neck out of the water, kicking its arms and legs. But he was not liking all this. Therefore he thought of leaving from there. He jumped and came out.

Frog: Who would live in such a confinement?

He went ahead. There he saw a village. There a man was carrying water in pots from the river.

The frog thought of hiding in a pot. Nobody will come to know.

The frog secretly sits in a pot. The man fills many pots with water, caps them, and walks towards the village.

The frog got scared as soon as the lid of the pot was closed. He tried hard but could not get out.

The man gave the pots to many houses in the village.

Among them was the pot in which the frog was sitting. It belonged to the landlord of the village. The landlord said to his servant, it is very cold today, I need to take a bath, please heat the water in this pot.

The servant put the pot on the stove.

Now the water started getting hot. The frog thought that he would die today. Now nothing can happen, the lid of the pot is closed. The frog was right. They stay where they are.

He started praying to God.

God save me, I want to go to the same well near my frog.

After some time, a strong wind started blowing. Due to this, the stove was extinguished.

The landlord said to the servant, “Hey, the stove got extinguished by the wind.” Open the lid and see how hot the water has become, otherwise, light the stove again.

As soon as the servant opened the lid. The frog quickly jumped out of the pot. No one saw him running, he came jumping and came near the well.

The frog quickly jumped into the well.

Frog: Is the walk done, Frog ji or is there still more walking left to do?

Frog: No, you were right. One must be patient with what one has received. Today I was saved from dying.

Then the frog told the whole story to the frog.

Frog: Thank God you were saved. From today onwards let's leave everything and meditate on God. So that we can get freedom from all this.

After this, both of them stayed there for the rest of their lives and started meditating on God.
