Hariyali Teej Puja Method

There is a ritual of fasting and worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati in a systematic way. Along with the fast on this day, the story of the fast is heard in the evening. By fasting and worshiping Mother Parvati ji, there is an increase in wealth, marriage, and physical happiness.

Women do special worship of Shiva-Parvati on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla paksha of the month of Sawan, which is called Hariyali Teej. In a large part of the country, this worship is celebrated on Ashadh Tritiya, it is called Haritalika Teej. The worship is the same in both, hence the story is also the same.

The third day of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month is called Shravani Teej. But most people know it by the name of Hariyali Teej. This festival is mainly celebrated in North India.

On this day women worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Nirjala fasts. This fast is said to be more difficult than Karva Chauth.

On this day, women spend the whole day without food and water, and on the second day in the morning, after bathing and worshiping, they take food after completing the fast.

Married women observe a fast for the long life of their husbands. On this day, makeup items and sweets are sent from the maternal home of women to their in-laws.

On the day of Hariyali Teej, women observe Nirjala Vrat in the morning after doing household chores and bathing, doing sixteen adornments. After this, Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva are worshipped.

The story of Teej is heard at the end of the puja. At the end of the story, women pray to Maa Gauri for the long life of their husbands. After this, the festival is celebrated in the house and bhajans and folk dances are performed.

There is also a custom of wearing green clothes, green Chunri, green Lehnga, green makeup, mehndi, and swinging on this day. There are swings at various places. In this festival, if women don't have green waves, they also dress up in red, and pink Chunri, sing songs, apply henna, do makeup, and dance. On the day of Hariyali Teej, fairs are held at many places and Goddess Parvati's ride is taken out with great fanfare.
