His grandfather Uttamchand Gandhi used to work as the Diwan of the Maharaja of Gujarat. When the British rule started in the country, his father Shri Karamchand Gandhi was transferred from Porbandar to Rajkot as Diwan and given the work of Diwan in a court.

At the same time, his father saw the lawyer and the judge and found that the respect of the lawyer in society is very high, because of this he advised his son to become a lawyer. Mahatma Gandhi was very good in their studies since childhood, as well as he had great leadership ability.

Because of this, Gandhiji decided to go to London the studies as a barrister after completing his elementary studies. In today's era, the education of barrister is also called the study of advocacy. Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi were married in May 1983 before moving to London. At that time Mahatma Gandhi was 13 years old and Kasturba Gandhi was only 14 years old. After a few years of marriage, Mahatma Gandhi went to London to study after taking goodbye to his wife.

When Gandhiji returned to India after studying barrister, he started practicing law in Mumbai. While practicing, he got an opportunity to fight the case of a wealthy Seth from Africa, in connection with which he had to go to South Africa. He won that case in South Africa, but there he saw the racial discrimination happening in South Africa and the condition of the people there was not seen from him.

There Gandhiji started the Satyagraha movement and defeated the British in the biggest case. After which the British had to enact a law against racial discrimination and it spread all over the world that Mahatma Gandhi, who came from India, got the British to make a law on the basis of non-violence.

Mahatma Gandhi was in South Africa with his wife Kasturba Gandhi for 21 years. After this, on the leadership and advice of his political mentor Gopal Krishna Gokhale, he decided to come to India. On 9 January 1915, Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi returned to India after 21 years.
