Lord Ganesha Stories
1. Story of Ganesh Chaturthi
Once upon a time, all the gods were in great trouble. All the gods reached the shelter of Shiva to solve their problems. At that time Ganesh and Kartikeya were also sitting there along with Lord Shiva.
Seeing the difficulties of the gods, Shiva asked Ganesh and Kartikeya the question – Who among you will solve the problems of the gods and help them? When both the brothers agreed to help, Shivaji placed a competition in front of them. According to this competition, whoever among the two brothers returns first after circumambulating the earth will help the gods in their troubles.
As soon as Shiva said this thing - Kartikeya sitting on his riding peacock went to circumambulate the earth. But Ganesh Ji stood at his place and started thinking that how can he revolve around the whole earth with the help of a mouse? At that moment a solution came to his mind. He went to his father Shiva and mother Parvati and after circumambulating them seven times came back to his place and stood.

After some time, Kartikeya returned after a full circle of the earth and started calling himself the winner. Then Shiva looked at Ganesh Ji and asked him - why Ganesha, why didn't you go to circumambulate the earth?
Then Ganesh Ji replied - "The whole world is settled in the parents only?" Whether I revolve around the earth or my parents are the same thing. Hearing this, Shiva was very happy and ordered Ganesha to remove the difficulties of all the gods. Along with this, Shiva also blessed Ganesh Ji that whoever worships you and fasts in the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha, all his sorrows will be removed and material pleasures will be attained.
2. How Ganesh Became The Elephant God
One day Parvati Mata went to take bath but there was no guard there. So he incarnated a boy with sandalwood paste and named him Ganesha. Mother Parvati ordered Ganesha that no one should be allowed inside the house without his permission.
When Shiva returned, he saw a boy standing at the door. When they started going inside, the boy stopped them and did not let them go. Seeing this, Shiva got angry and asked his bullock Nandi to fight with that boy. But in the war that little boy defeated Nandi. Seeing this, Lord Shiva got angry and cut off the head of that child Ganesha.
Now when Mother Parvati returned, she was very sad and started crying loudly. When Shiva came to know that he was his own son, he also realized his mistake. Shiva tried to convince Parvati a lot but she did not listen and started taking the name of Ganesha and getting hurt.
In the end, Mother Parvati got angry and asked Shiva to revive Ganesha with her power. Shiva said - O Parvati, I can make Ganesha alive, but only after connecting the head of any other living creature. Mother Parvati said crying - I want my son alive in any condition.
On hearing this, Shiva ordered Nandi - Go Nandi and cut off the head of any living creature you find in this world. When Nandi was searching for the head, he first saw an elephant from him, so he cut off its head and brought it. Lord Shiva attached that head to the body of Ganesha and donated life to Ganesha. That's why Shiva named Ganesha Ganapati and all other gods gave him a boon that whatever new work will be done in this world first! Jai Shree will remember Ganesha.
3. Story of Ganesha's Broken Tooth
When Maharishi Ved Vyas sat down to write the Mahabharata, he needed a person who would write the story of the Mahabharata that came into his mouth. He chose Shri Ganesh Ji for this task. Ganesh Ji also agreed to this but he had one condition the entire Mahabharata writing would have to be completed without stopping even for a moment. Ganesh Ji said – If you stop even once, I will stop writing.
Maharishi Ved Vyas accepted this condition of Ganesh Ji. But Ved Vyas also put a condition in front of Ganesh Ji and said – Ganesh, whatever you write, you will write it after understanding it. Ganesh Ji also agreed to his condition. Both sat down to write the epic of Mahabharata. Ved Vyas Ji started speaking the epic with his mouth and Ganesh Ji understood and started writing it quickly. After writing for some time, suddenly Ganesh Ji's pen broke. The pen could not handle the speed of Maharishi's speech.
Ganesh Ji understood that he had become a little proud and he did not understand the power and knowledge of the Maharishi. After that, he slowly broke one of his teeth and dipped it in ink, and started writing the story of Mahabharata again. Whenever Ved Vyas felt tired, he would recite a difficult verse, which took more time for Ganesh Ji to understand and write and Maharishi also got time to rest.
Maharishi Ved Vyas Ji and Ganesh Ji took 3 years to write the Mahabharata. Although it is said that some verses of Mahabharata have gone around, even today there are 100000 verses in this poem.
4. The Story of Ganesha and the Riding Mouse
Once upon a time, there was a very fierce demon king – Gajmukh. He wanted to become very powerful and have money. At the same time, he wanted to subdue all the gods and goddesses, so he always did penance for a boon from Lord Shiva. In order to get a boon from Shiva, he left his kingdom and started living in the forest to get the boon from Shiva, he started doing penance night and day without drinking water.
A few years passed, and Shivaji was impressed seeing his immense tenacity and Shiva appeared before him. Shivaji was pleased and gave him divine powers, which made him very powerful. The biggest strength that Shiva gave him was that he could not be killed by any weapon. Asura Gajmukh became proud of his powers and started misusing his powers and started attacking the deities.
Only Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, and Ganesha were saved from his terror. Gajmukh wanted every deity to worship him. All the gods reached the shelter of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma Ji and started pleading for the protection of their lives. Seeing all this, Shiva sent Ganesha to stop the demon Gajmukh from doing all this.
Ganesh Ji fought with Gajmukh and badly injured the demon Gajmukh. But even then he disagreed. The demon transformed himself into a mouse and ran to attack Ganesha. As soon as he reached Ganesh Ji, Ganesh Ji jumped and sat on top of him and Ganesh Ji changed Gajmukh into the mus for life and kept it as his vehicle for life. Later Gajmukh was also pleased with this form and also became a dear friend of Ganesha.
