Story - Horror

This was my first job posting in a small village in Indore. I rented a one-room house. Where I was staying, it was almost a village. I had to take a bus at 7 am to reach my office at 9 am. There is a highway next to the village, there were big fields on both sides of that highway and I had to cross the field to reach the highway. The way I used to go, there were one or two houses, which were in very shabby conditions.

After crossing that farm, a small community of some 100 people lived or call it a small colony. My rental house was also in the same colony. Most of the houses here looked like huts, some houses were of cement but they were almost ruined, I used to live in one of them.

Modernization was a far-off dream for this village, where even the basic facility was negligible.

Waking up at 6:00 am, getting ready by 8:30 am, I used to walk to the farm for about 30 minutes to reach the bus stop which was on the highway. I used to come back home from the office at around 9 pm.

Every day I had to cross that big field to go back to my house, in the same path there was a small hut, at whose door every day a woman used to stand. There was a slow light, the lantern kept burning. The house was about 50 yards from the way I used to go. Whenever I returned from the office, that lady used to stare at me every day. Like I disturbed him.

The first few days I did not notice him. But after a few days, when I lost my sight, I saw her and there would not be a day that she did not turn around. He would be around 30 and I was 21 so it was uncomfortable for me.

On the fifteenth day, when I was returning I found him standing in my way. I am hooked! Since this was the only walking route, I had no choice but to cross it. I bowed my head down and increased my walking speed and started walking faster than before. I crossed it a little further and then suddenly he said - just wait… (please stop). I stopped

Without saying another word, I packed all my things, informing the homeowner that I was evacuating the house. He was given a month's rent and left home, village, and left.

I stayed there for about two weeks and my mind was deceived by many things.

After that incident, I consulted some psychiatrists because I felt like I was losing my mental balance. But the reports were general.

Two years later, I am still not able to understand what really happened to me there…
